My First Mini Quilt
Monday, April 08, 2024
Oh gosh, I have to admit that I am a bit hesitant about posting about this. I hope that it can perhaps inspire someone else to try these quilts even though they are quite challenging and will also encourage me by writing about it to maybe try another one. This was a mini quilt pattern by Kim Diehl. I purchased this kitted from a very nice quilt shop in Massachusetts called The Quilted Crow in 2016. The fabrics were all 1860s Civil War reproductions. I enjoy these fabrics, and have used these types of fabrics in another quilt project one time. I love the tiny delicate prints, and soft muted colors. I did add a few purple and turquoise fabrics to brighten up slightly. I knew where I was going to hang it, and I wanted it to match the decor a bit more, so I wanted to add those colors. Unfortunately, there were definitely some mistakes in this quilt. To be honest, I'm not really sure what happened. It is quite crooked, and the pieces don't line up well at all. I did starch all of the fabric, but perhaps I didn't enough. I would like to try one of these quilts again to advance my skills, and think that it may be best if I do some research on how to perfect these kinds of quilts. There is so much to learn!
