Birthday Start

I'm not sure where I had heard about the idea of a 'birthday start' for stitching. I think maybe on Flosstube. This particular pattern I bought as a kit a very, very, long time ago. I'm sorry to say that I am not really sure the history of finding this. I think that it may have actually been a Nashville Needlework preview on a needlework shop that I receive e-mails from. "When this you see remember me." is one of my favorite sentiments on a needlework sampler. I also was very attracted to the soft colors, particularly the blue color. I have wanted to start it several times, and I think I may have for years had this kitted and in a project bag. I even had this fun thread keep for the project - I just love it so much.

This year I made a point to make this Forget Me Not Sampler by Brenda Gervais my birthday start. I've never done a birthday start, and I almost forgot about it! It was around 9:00 at night on my birthday, and I remembered that I wanted to start this project. I can't wait to finish this one and have it professionally framed. I love the frame that is in the model photograph, and will likely bring this photo with me to the frame shop.

I have been working on this project off and on with my other stitching. I don't usually work on larger pieces, so this is a nice size as a middle size to work on. Also, it calls for one strand of floss, which is a bit different from other pieces I've worked on. I'm so excited to see how this turns out!
