English Paper Piecing is so, so addicting! I came home from work yesterday, and found that I couldn't stop myself from working on one more 'petal'! (I see I am getting carried away with explanation points, I am so excited about it. :))

I think that perhaps for a quilter, I am slightly 'late' to the English Paper Piecing (EPP) 'party'. I entered a quilt into the Vermont Quilt Festival that was an English Paper Pieced hexagon quilt. I love that particular quilt so much, and I thought it may be fun to try doing the hexagons in a small version. I purchased some plastic templates quite a while ago at a quilting expo, along with some Japanese Taupe Fabric.

Doing the hexies on such a small scale has definitely had its challenges. When I tried to attach the fabric to the plastic templates, I had a really hard time. My first flower with the light pink and blue was done using that method. I happened to go to a quilt shop this past weekend, and they had the paper pieces for the 1/4 inch hexagon, so I tried those. I had a much easier time. I use a small quilting clip as well to help me with holding it together. I think that the corners were much neater with the paper pieces as opposed to the plastic templates. I am going to do some research to see if anyone has some tips on how to work with the plastic templates.

Please let me know if you would be interested in a YouTube video on how to do these - I didn't find many, so maybe others are looking for information?
